Dog School- Daisy Edition

Last night was our first official "class" lesson for Canine Good Citizen.

We worked on "Look", "Sit", "Down", and the beginnings of "Stay". I felt much less crazy clicking in a group. I need to find some clicker training people in my neighborhood to walk with so the neighbors don't harrass me for being a crazy dog lady. We'll be a little gang and make jackets or something- with clickers on them. It will be like the Pink Ladies- only with dogs.

Daisy was awesome. She's pretty smart (takes after her sister, Teagan). She was the littlest one in the class so she got quite a bit of attention. If I could read her mind I think everytime someone said, "Oh aren't you a little cutie!" or something of the like, I think she was saying, "I know, right?". Oh yes- she's well aware that she's adorable. In fact, she already has an admirer. He stared at her the entire class- ignoring his owner's pleas to "Sit" or "Look". No joke- he refused to break his gaze for 15 minutes or so.

Daisy didn't like it very much and just barked at him for leering at her. I think she thought he was a creep. I don't know the dog well so I can't speak for his character. Either way, she may be carrying her cell phone and pepper spray to her next class in case he tries something. :)

They have reputations too.

Daisy is a dog prodigy.

She already knows how to fetch. She figured it out on the first try. No thanks to Teagan, the body slamming jealous ball-snatcher. Bless their little hearts. At least Daisy didn't mind. Teagan just really loves to play fetch with a passion. A body-slamming over-zealous passion. :)

She's a little bit of an over-achiever and show-off but can you blame her?

We still haven't quite decided what breed(s) Daisy is- most say Jack Russell/Chihuahua but she has a really mellow temperament and apparently neither of those breeds (separate or together) are mellow. Any ideas??

The girls are settling back into the routine. I (finally) renewed the dog park pass and got Daisy registered. Teagan LOVES the dog park and she cracks me up running around trying to entice the other dogs to chase her and play with her. Teagan is the neighborhood flirt.

Daisy has her second "canine good citizen" class on Sunday and Teagan is signed up for the CGC class that begins in October. Yeah- Tea's getting the works- the whole "manners package". She really is the sweetest dog but I just want everyone to see how sweet she is and when she's leaping on you and slamming you with her paws it can be kinda hard...

I've already got a reputation.

I'm back from Hawaii and I was so happy to see the pups. In fact, waaaay more happy than they were to see me. They were completely spoiled by their pet-sitters and they could have cared less that we were home. But I got to spend all Sunday lounging with my dogs and I was in heaven. Fortunately, my pet sitters know how crazy I am and sent me some pics in Hawaii to keep me from calling them all the time asking what they did that day.

Daisy went to the beach. So cute.

Teagan was too busy playing with pugs Jack and Harley to sit still but we got an action shot from the dog park:

In other news- Daisy began her Canine Good Citizen class last night. It looks like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to it. Daisy really could care less. She fell asleep in the middle of it. Oh - and we're going to do clicker training. I wanted to raise my hand and say, " Seriously? My neighbors already think I'm nuts- do I need to add a clicker in the mix?!"

But I didn't.

So, like a good dog owner (and someone headed south on the crazy train) I was clicking around the neighborhood this morning- although I went a little earlier in hopes that we wouldn't meet up with anyone. Oh well- I'm sure I'd like my dogs more than most of our neighbors anyway...right? Next thing you know I'm going to start chewing up their treats into bits before I give them out like a mother bird. Before that happens- just put me away.
Daisy's first day of school. Tea's next! Teagan always was a brown-noser...

Au revoir mes filles.

I'm going to Hawaii and I'm happy that I'll get to lay on the beach and relax before my CRAZY fall semester begins! Unfortunately, since it is an island, that means I'll have to leave my dogs.

I'm sure you're all thinking- "So what?!" - you're going to freaking Hawaii. I know. I know. I just hate to leave them. Especially Daisy because she's just getting settled in. And I know they have the best dog-sitters in the world and I'm completely confident in their ability to care for the pups. It's just that I'll miss them. A lot.

Tonight is drop off night and I have a feeling I'll leave looking a little like this...

Send my pups some kisses while I'm gone. See you in a little bit!

Is it just me?

Or do you also want to sing Prince when you see this photo?

"Could you beeeeee the most beaaauuutiful dog in the world---could you beeee?"

Diversion- So that's why they call it a "Lionheart".

When I saw this video of Christian the lion- I laughed so hard I cried. And then I actually got teary eyed because I'm a sucker for sappy music and video footage of loving animals. And then when I saw the message at the end, I laughed again.
So have fun laughing or crying or both.

Pillow Talk.

So my husband has been gone for a couple days and the dogs have adopted his side of the bed already. Either they reaaaaally miss him or they're thinking, "Great! He's gone so we've got more room to spread out!"

Sorry honey- if it happens to be the latter.

Lady- just put the credit card down... slowly...

I am that weirdo that LOVES grocery shopping. I love to look at food and figure out how to use new ingredients to make new recipes. I get as much pleasure in going to Whole Foods as in going to J. Crew and the Gap. But now- I've got a new passion- pet stores. I am a staple at my local Pet Supermarket but just yesterday I found the cutest dog "boutique" on the planet and I plan on spending all of my money there and eventually, I may end up living in a box. And it would be worth it.

I went there, referred by a friend, to get new harnesses for the ladies. And landed in dog paraphernalia heaven. It was divine. Organic dog food. Every kind of eco-friendly and smart dog toy imaginable. Custom monogrammed shirts and beds and the cutest dog-shirts and harnesses ever made. I saw a harness with a big flower on it. I felt like Veruca Salt was running through my head saying, "Mummy I want it and I want it NOW!"

I got Teagan a pink jersey that says Heart to Run. She HAD to have it and she looks adorable in it. But my favorite part was that they carry Earthdog merchandise. The little sweatshirts had "Down Dog" and "Pees on Earth" and I had to pull myself away from them. I've also been hankering after their collars and leashes since I saw the site a couple months ago. I just look at the website and sigh because I still can't justify the amount but since I wouldn't pay shipping...I may just have to splurge....

I can't decide which ones are cuter...I'm thinking the orange daisy one for Daisy but I can't decide which one I like best for Teagan. I'm favoring the peace/dig it one...any suggestions or opinions??

I could have wandered in that store for HOURS. I think I need help.
